Mobile Workbenches Buying Guide
Having a mobile workbench can save you time, effort, and
undue frustration, but it can be difficult to decide exactly which mobile
workbench to buy when faced with a number of options. The best way to determine which of the mobile
workbenches you’re considering is actually the best one to fill your needs is
to actually stop and consider what your specific needs are… think about what
you’re going to be using the workbench for, and make a list of what it will
need to be able to do.
If you’re going to need frequent access to components that
you keep on shelves, then having a mobile workbench with an open front would
probably benefit you most. Should you
need to use the storage space in the bench to move large components, however,
then you might consider mobile workbenches that don’t have shelves at all. Let your storage needs determine the models
that you consider, as opposed to simply buying a workbench and then figuring
out what you can fit on it.
Consider the overall space and weight capacity of the mobile
workbenches that you look at, whether they have drawers or not (and if so, how
many there are and how much they can hold), and whether any doors and drawers
have locking mechanisms on them. Study
any security features that the workbenches come with, taking note of whether
they’re visible or internal features and getting an understanding of exactly
how they work.
Finally, you should think about the actual design of any
mobile workbench that you might be considering buying. Are they made of welded metal, riveted metal,
or heavy-duty plastic? Which material
would stand up best in the environment you’ll be using your workbench in? Are the sides solid, mesh, or open, and which
would be most beneficial to you? Taking
the time to evaluate your needs and ask questions about different models of
mobile workbenches can help to ensure that you’ll find the exact workbench that
you need and that it will be able to do everything that you need it to do.
